The kickstarter I'm part of, My Peculiar Family, is almost fully funded!

This is my debut!  I wrote a story in an anthology with some pretty amazing writers.  What did I write?

Isabelle, A young artist in New York during the Civil War is a gifted young lady.  Gifted enough to make a living off of painting portraits.  But, an eccentric, wealthy man has an unusual commission for her.  All Isabelle wants to do is try to earn a living and not fall prey to traditional gender rolls.  Instead she's put in the middle of a battle between good and evil.

Help us fully fun this amazing project!

Check us out, read about the project, share with your friends and donate. :)

Happy belated new year!

I've been away a bit, I know. Lots going on.  So much so that I've had to back off social media for a while.

As always, thank you for the comments, favs and watches.  :)  I always appreciate it.

And, I fear I'm beginning to move away from DA.  It won't happen all at once. The transition will be a slow one.

I'll be creating my own site.  DA has been wonderful, and I've been able to reach out to other artists and make new friends.  But, it's not fulfilling all my creative needs and desires.  As my art changes and grows, and I finish writing my stories, getting them ready to share with others, I find I need something more.  I need something more tailored to how I want to present my art, share and sell my art, and build my stories.

I'd still like to keep in touch with you all.  I've made some great friendships here.

Who knows, maybe I'll still keep the DA site.  It's not set in stone.  But I definitely feel I need something more.

Love to you all!

Something is disturbing me.  The conventions I attend and love are feeling less like a community and more like a battle ground.  I'll keep this short.

The battle between disenfranchised artists, authors and Indie comic/story creators vs cosplayers.

Each side is feeling like they're being belittled and marginalized for one reason or another.  There's been name calling, finger pointing, yelling, snubbing. Conventions WERE a community where we all could celebrate the same thing.  They've  become something else.  The fix isn't easy because it involves listening to each other when our emotions are running high.  REALY listening.

Some of the community is still there.  Artists and authors of varying flavors and styles supporting each other.  I see and hear them sharing info about conventions to go to, people to talk to and network with for publishing or more work.

I can't speak to what the cosplayers do for each other, but, I'm sure they do similar.

But these two groups have splintered over the years.  "Creators" (Authors, artists, craft creators, etc) roll their eyes at cosplayers.  Cosplayers walk by Creators without really seeing them. (Neither of these examples are absolutes so, I beg you, don't give me the "you're generalizing" comments.  This isn't what this journal is for.)

Hard work is being unappreciated on both sides.  We're in this TOGETHER, for better or worse, like a family.

So, I'm pleading with everyone.  PLEASE, PLEASE, support each other.  SEE that there is hard work to be appreciated from your fellow convention attendee.  STOP, TALK, SHARE, SUPPORT.  Don't just blow by, or roll your eyes at each other.

Many of us on either side are doing this to pay the bills.

Let's bring these communities that splintered apart BACK TOGETHER.

One of the authors is an idol of mine from high school! Tracy Hickman.  :D If you had asked me back then that I'd have a short story in the same book as his I'd have laughed and said you were joking.  :)  But , there's my name with his and so many other wonderful authors.  And, to top it off, my friend Peter Vinton has a wonderful piece of artwork that spoofs Norman Rockwell's "Thanksgiving" painting.  And there's Sara Richards who's done a great cover for the Anthology.  :)

There are 14 days left.  We appreciate your support.  :)

Imagine you've had no contact with your family for years.  Imagine that one day you suddenly inherit the family's entire estate! You return to the estate.  You start cleaning through the attic and you find a box of photos of mysterious people you never heard of before. These people are your relatives!  And they each have a story to tell.

Each story in the anthology "My Peculiar Family" is about some of the photos the main character finds.

The list of authors are:

Tracy Hickman - the Author who wrote the Dragonlance series. www.trhickman.com/  Also responsible for the Darksword Series, Batman: Wayne of Gotham and so, so much more!

Rob Watts - Who wrote "The Crooked Roads Through Cedar Grove"  www.facebook.com/robwattsonlin…

Derek Belanger - Wrote
“A Study In Terror: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Revolutionary Stories of Fear and The Supernatural"

F. Allen Farnham - Who wrote “Angry Ghosts”, “Black Hawks From A Blue Sun” and “The Exhausted Dead”.

James A. Moore - www.jamesamoorebooks.com/  The Author of "The Blasted Lands" Series and "Snafu" and "Congregations of The Dead".

Stacey Longo - One of the very talented writers of the New England Horror Writers.

And I'm only scratching the surface of the talent I've been included in.  Some of these people are heroes to me so it's really quite an honor to be part of this anthology.

I'm really excited about this!  There are some very wonderful rewards.  This promises to be one hell of a book.  Please, pass this along, donate, share, donate. :D (Big Grin)

And there's some great artwork by a friend of mine Peter Vinton and another talented artist Sara Richards.  :D (Big Grin)  Some of their art is linked to the rewards.

Thank you for your support.  Thank you for the likes, the favorites and the shares and the watches.
