The Bloody Throne

Done in Photoshop and Corel 12 with a scaned in sketch.

I don't know how many hours as it was a little bit here and there after work and after the wee one went to bed.

For the floor and throne I used rough bristle oil brushes for texture. For the woman, her clothes and the lamps I used a combo of wet acrylic, blending brushes, and colored pencil. for the background I also glazed it over in a deep blue green to pull it back from the rest of the picture and dull the bright reds a bit. I used green and blue for the shadows in her skin, clothes and throne and the equivalent of Cadmium red light for her cheeks, tip of her nose and hands.

This was a bear of a file and easily had about 30-40 layers to it. Photoshop was starting to protest a bit when opening it so I guess it's a good thing I finished it.

If I were to continue with this piece I'd pulle the throne back a bit from her face with and orange glaze then deepen the imediate shadows under her forarms.

It also looks pretty darn neat in black and white.

She's one of the villians I'm writitng about and a hideous person. The tattooes on her eyes are a symbol of status. To date no woman has eye tattooes longer than hers. The tattooes on the rest of her are symbols of devotion to the demon lord she serves. She's his high priestess and wife...yes I said wife.
