"The cities of man stood derilect and neglected, abandoned of all that once gave them glory. The angels wept amongst the emptiness. Not for empty buildings of steel and mortar, nor for streets and abandoned vehicles that would have put ancient Rome to shame. The angels wept because mankind neglected the most important of things."
Oil on gesso board. It took....ummm....10 - 15 hours of work. All of that spread out in tiny little incriments where I could find them between work, commissions, comic and life.
I so suck at buildings....and perspective. But that was why I did this painting. (well, not the perspective part. That will come as I get more aquainted with painting buildings). If you don't challenge yourself and paint/draw things you're not used to then how will you grow as an artist, right?
The "city" isn't really a city. It's more an assortment of buildings from different major cities in Europe and the USA.
It's almost exactly the way the actual painting looks. The reflection of the sunset wasn't nearly that yellow.

Wow! this piece is really amazing! The colors are fantastic, especially the pinkish purple glow on her skin ^^ I love this character, and the sky is really pretty too Don't worry bout the buildings, they look great to me
OH! and the color of her skin! She was so pale and marble like that I wanted to put some more dimension and life into her skin. So, I used a thin glaze of cadmium red light and blended it over some of the midtones.
Thanks about the buildings. XD I rarely paint them so it was a challenge.
Thanks for the fave to.
