"The cities of man stood derilect and neglected, abandoned of all that once gave them glory. The angels wept amongst the emptiness. Not for empty buildings of steel and mortar, nor for streets and abandoned vehicles that would have put ancient Rome to shame. The angels wept because mankind neglected the most important of things."

"Eachother."
------------------------------------------------------------------

I think that pretty much says it all.

Oil on gesso board. It took....ummm....10 - 15 hours of work. All of that spread out in tiny little incriments where I could find them between work, commissions, comic and life. :D

I so suck at buildings....and perspective. But that was why I did this painting. (well, not the perspective part. That will come as I get more aquainted with painting buildings). If you don't challenge yourself and paint/draw things you're not used to then how will you grow as an artist, right? :D

The "city" isn't really a city. It's more an assortment of buildings from different major cities in Europe and the USA.

It's almost exactly the way the actual painting looks. The reflection of the sunset wasn't nearly that yellow. :D

The really is excellent - the character design is interesting, and her skin is just exquisite - such a lovely, translucent pallor that isn't easy to achieve in traditional media  I also totally agree with you about your comment about pushing yourself - I think you've done a grand job on those buildings :)

Wow. :3 Thanks for the great comments. :D

The buildings were hard and took a bit of struggling hear and there to get right. :D It means a lot that you think they came out good. :D

... due to the paleness of her skin, she looks like she should be a guard in a palace or something. (indoors)

...or holding a tube of spf 5000 sunblock.
...she's cute, too!

:lmao:

I'm totally heteralsexual. But I still appreciate female beauty. ;)

I'm an example of a good little Catholic girl gone wierd. (not wild because that would imply things that occur on "girls gone wild" that I've never done.)

Yes'um I'm a recoverin' Catholic.

...and I'm mostly Christian... though I hate the way today's "Christians" carry themselves, so I kinda just keep to myself.
I'm now at the point, though, that life has me so callused, that I wish I could break free and "go wild".

...but I've always been faithful,

...dammit! :)

Isn't that a card game? Jk, jk! People say the same thing about my last name (Uecker - pronounced "yoo-kur")
I've known others that have pulled away from the ministries.
My picture in in the dictionary next to "weird".

:) Completely agree. :)

I used to be a Eucharistic Minister, if you can believe that. I got pissed when people would tell me not to give the bread to people who didn't say "Amen" or didn't dress a certain way. It's something that was meant for everyone, not a select few. -_- GEEZ.

I think I'm still working out my rebelious streak. XD Going wild is hard when you have bills to pay and mouths to feed. :3 That's why I just went weird instead. :D

OH! and the color of her skin!
She was so pale and marble like that I wanted to put some more dimension and life into her skin. So, I used a thin glaze of cadmium red light and blended it over some of the midtones.

Thanks about the buildings. XD I rarely paint them so it was a challenge. :D

Thanks for the fave to.
